Gun Cleaning

About two weeks ago I purchased a Mosin Nagant from a local gun shop.  I decided not to pay the extra twenty dollars to get the gun cleaned. Although I knew little about the gun at the time I thought I could clean it.  Just today I decided to strip the gun and clean it.  That was a stupid idea.  I had never done something like this so I had little to no idea of what I was doing.  Needless to say I still got it clean and now know how to dismantle and piece the gun back together.  Here are some pictures from my interesting experience.
This is the gun completely striped and cleaned.

Here you can see (in more detail) The trigger,
magazine, and bolt in greater detail.  Notice the bolt
                                          is actually in three pieces.

This is the rifle once it has been completely cleaned
                                          and put back together.
The bolt has been put back together and is now
ready to shoot.  From this angle you can also see
                                          into the magazine.

This is by far my favorite part of the rifle.  Here if
you look closely you can see the Russian hammer
and sicle.  Just under that stamp the date reads 1942.

Teen Court of Hopkins County

Well let me just explain first what Teen Court is.  Teen court is a system where you can be and attorney, clerk and even a jury member.  What we do is we set the punishment of Teens who have committed a crime.  Such as driving without a drivers license, small theft and even some drug related cases.  I quite enjoy the cases and the people I do it with.  Once court lets out you can expect a gang of sharp dressed young men and women to be wondering around on the square.  We usually head down to the popcorn shop then back to the square to consume our sweets and soda.  In all the program is really cool and I would encourage and of you who sound interested to find something like this in your county and try it out.

See the photo in the background, well one night I thought it would be so much fun to pose by that photo because it looks so cool.  At first all the other guys  wouldn't do it.
But then I got Shack to do it with me.
Then I got Shack and Timothy to both pose with me.  Now its kind of a tradition.
One night while walking on the square we decided to take some photos.  This is one of those spectacular images.
All of the girls in the popcorn shop.

Now for the whole gang.  We don't normally take pictures but that night I decided to steal my brothers camera and take some photos.

Camping & School

Well I just got back from another camping trip with a few families from Oklahoma.  It was beautiful, we camped right along the river (which I kept on calling a lake) across from a huge jumping rock.  We had lots of fun jumping off the rock, canoeing, hiking, jamming out on our guitars, swimming and playing mafia around the fire.  Everyone had a blast!  There were a few families who did leave early and missed out on a lot of fun.  A friend even asked me to teach him how to make paracord bracelets, so I taught him.  This was probably one of my favorite camping trips that I have been on in a while.
The only thing that was absolutely tormenting is the fact that I had to do some school while I was camping.  Everyone had a little school, but I even had a paper to write.  I can not say that I didn't enjoy lying in a hammock while reading Francis Schaffer, but next time I think I will have to get more school done before we go camping.
In all it was an amazing trip, and if I could do it over again I would.

Bored? Well do something!!!

This was my first leather burning project, I used a
simple wood-burning tool.
This is the same photo, except you can read viva Cristo Rey.
These are my many paracord bracelets and keychains.  I make nine styles of bracelets and six styles or keychains.  I also make I.D. tag lanyards and keychain lanyards.
Another leather project, this is a simple coin pouch that I tooled, dyed, and stitched together.
This specific knife I made out of a horse shoe that
a feind and I found while walking in his land.  I forged this knife by hand, the sheath is from a friend.

The knife to the Right was the first knife I ever made.  It was stock crafted out of a lawn mower blade and has a oak handle.  It is double edged and very sharp.

Well just the other day I was (believe it or not) bored.  Sitting on the couch doing nothing but breathing.    I thought to myself, idle hands are the devils workshop.  And I don't want to be the devils workshop.  So I got out the wood burner and started to burn a cross and crown in it,  underneath this I wrote viva Cristo Rey.  Meaning long live Christ the King.  I have made some more things since then, but none were as inspiring as the piece of leather that I burned.  I just wanted to encourage all of those who read this not to be the devils workshop.  Do not be lazy, get up and do something for the glory of god.  Weather its making something, reading your bible, playing your guitar or praying, just don't become the devils workshop.

Camping With My Peeps

 Rockin' ou
All the dangerous homeschooler's with their weapons.

YES WE HEAD BANG.

so camping with these people has to be one of my favorite things to do in the whole world!  Yes we are weird and home schooled and like to dance out in the middle on nowhere, but thats what makes it fun.
some of the things we did included were hiking, climbing a rock face, kayaking, dancing, swimming and telling some pretty crazy stories around the campfire.  I love the crazy home schooled people that I get to camp with.  Intact if those people weren't there with us this would not be near as fun.  Cant wait to go to the next awesome camp out!!!
